Trap #1: protect insufficiently its yard

here are the secrets of a shipyard impeccable:
- Empty the workpiece at the maximum, the ideal situation is to be able to work in a space completely empty. If this is not possible, place the furniture in the center of the room and protect them with a plastic sheet or old sheets folded in two.
- Remove everything that is likely to receive projections of paint, such as carpets or curtains.
- Remove all the tables, shelves, screws, rods and other door handles that could interfere with the application of the paint
- Unsnap the taken and electrical switches for painting without overflowing on them.
- Protect the soil with a large plastic sheet, to attach them to the ground with the double face.
- Plan of old comfortable clothes which no longer worried about nothing, as well as a cap or a bandana to protect your hair.
- You need a mask, latex gloves and possibly of goggles if you paint the glycero or that you use a paint stripper.
By respecting these rules, you should avoid large or small trouble ...
And what to do in case of stain?
It is already too late ... The drop of too on the brush and that is a nice spot of paint! To rectify them as soon as possible follow the advice of Valerie.
- In case of stain with paint glycero: Remove excess paint on the fabrics, curtains, carpets and other textiles with a scraper or a knife. Once the surplus removed, skip a coup of cloth with white spirit.
- In case of stain with the acrylic paint: also remove the excess with a knife or a scraper and then clean with cold water with a little soap and rub with a nail brush.
- If the paint is already dry: dab the stain with a little bit of rubbing alcohol on a cloth.

Trap #2: poorly prepare its support

When one wants to repaint its walls, it is tempting to burn the steps, to arrive as quickly as possible to the final result ... Error! Because if we do not take care to properly prepare the surface to be painted, we risk of obtaining imperfect walls, leaving appear all the faults.

Fred Perrot
Achievement: The walls have ears
Small reminder of the steps to follow:

- If the surface to be painted is dirty (grease, grime, nicotine, traces of fingers ... ), it will take the wash with a mild detergent diluted in water, ending always by a clear water rinse and a complete curing. Attention, the walls must always be leached from bottom to top to avoid the drips dirty.

- If cracks are visible on the surface to be painted, it will be the open using a triangular scraper, and then reseal the carefully to the coating, and finish by sanding, once the coating dry well If the cracks are too important because "alive" (due to the variations of the materials, they affect then the entire thickness of the plaster, or even of the wall), it is possible to install a glass cloth, composed of fibers very solid and presented in rolls, before painting.

The cracks will be much longer to respawn. Attention, the first layer of paint applied on a glass cloth must be an acrylic paint, which does not damage the coating. If you make this choice, avoid the papers to paint to landforms and just you a smooth support, always more reliable. Last-do papers to paint, the support to nine arises as the wallpaper and replaced the glass paper. Smooth, it offers the possibility of appl

Trap #3: running out of paint in the course of road (or buy too!)

What's more galling that find themselves on painting courses in full action or be obliged to report to the store the pot of 10 liters which we rest on the arm? To avoid this kind of inconvenience, only one solution: well calculate the number of liters required thanks to a calculator painting of Cotemaison.co. uk.
Before you start in the yard, a few golden rules to observe:
- even if your paint is indicated monolayer, for a fine result to the height of your expectations, count two layers of paint.
- By lack of experience, there is a tendency to too load the brush and therefore to consume more. See a little more broad and round above the data indications.
- Much better to have a pot in too that miss painting a Sunday afternoon, the shipyard started ...
And for those who want a calculation on-measure, here's the method explained:
- Measure the perimeter of the room by striking out the openings (doors, windows).
- Multiply by the height under ceiling, divide by the performance reported on the pot, and then multiply by the number of layers to install. Example: my room has a perimeter of (5m 7m) x 2 = 24m x 2.50 m height under ceiling = 60 m2. If the yield per liter indicates on the pot is 12m2 per liter, we divided 60 by 12 = 5 liters x 2 layers = 10 liters. It rounds to 11.5 liters for more comfort.
That you seemed insurmountable? Arm yourself with your smile the more disarming and show the dimensions of your room to a seller. You will troubleshoot without doubt ...

Trap #4: use an inadequate equipment

Rolls too purposes, brushes who lose their hairs ... a hardware bottom of range or unsuitable for the quality of the paint you will further complicate the task. You will spend more time to paint, the result may be misunderstood to be irregular, it will be impossible to use a second time, there will be no doubt of the drips and splashes of unsightly.

A good brush must be conical and have long hairs well fixed on the handle, that it is better choose in raw wood (instead of the plastic or painted wood) for a better grip. Better use of synthetic hairs when we painted with a paint to basis of aqueous emulsion, called paint to water. On the other hand, wool and natural silk are recommended when paint is used to the solvent, called glycero. Here, too, do not hesitate to ask Council to sellers of specialty stores, they will guide you to the right products.

The rollers to hairs ras will be reserved for lacquers and eggshell paints, models to short hair or mid-long will be perfect for the eggshell and matt, the anti-drops will be unavoidable for the ceilings.
Finally, a tray large enough with a grid will allow to drain the excess paint before moving the roll.
For baseboards and all flat surfaces, it is preferable to use the flat brushes. On the other hand, it must be use of round brushes to paint the moldings or the angles of walls. As to the radiators, whose nooks are not easy to access, they will make mandatory the use of special brushes, elbows and long handle.

On your list of accessories to be a good painter, do not forget to note: of the good protective adhesive tape to provide in sufficient quantity, a good stepladder for not to break the figure and the white spirit and other cleaning products according to the paint.

Trap #5: launch without having tried his painting

Fred Perrot
Achievement: The walls have ears
the choice of color of a painting is always tricky. What hue adopt, in what place the place, how the associate for it integrates in the room and that it creates the desired atmosphere? So many questions which require a real reflection. Since little, simulators and virtual shaders are used to test the colors as in the home.

The rendering is often phony and far from providing any the delicacy of hues and half-tones. OF or the interest to check at home the tone chosen using samples prior to embarking on the great work. The paintings of quality, such as Farrow&Ball or resource, and since little of DIY superstores as Leroy Merlin or trademarks as Dulux Valentine, propose to the sale of small pots of 100ml called "testers" that allow you to have a fairly good idea of the hue desired. Rather than apply the tester directly on the wall or the part to be painted, better proceed to the tests on a white cardboard of 50x50 cm, and then to place the latter in different places in the room and at different hours of the day, including the evening to the electric light.

These prior tests prove unavoidable when we wish to apply half-tones or bright tones, who suffer more than the strong colors the influences of the environment and that can really change appearance depending on the circumstances. Idem when one wants to associate two or three colors of paint, be it in chiaroscuro or in contrast. This precaution can actually save you time and money.

Trap 6: neglecting the step of the "sub-layer"

If it does not take the care to put an under-layer before the application of the paint, the latter risk of poorly adhere to the media, or to be absorbed by the porous wall which will "Drink" the paint and require you to multiply the number of layers needed.

There are sub-layers, also known as the "primary of attaching "adapted to all media likely to be painted:
- on the walls: you can use a paint cheap, but the ideal is to opt for a primary to solvent in power anti-tasks. Attention to observe the instructions of the manufacturers as to the drying time.
- On the metal: it must use a sub-layer protects from corrosion and facilitating the attachment of the paint. If the metal is rusty, you will find sub-layers to paint on such a surface.
- On the radiators: there are sub-layers special heat resistant. Be sure to apply the latter on radiators off.
- On the PVC, tiled floors, melamine: you will find sub-layers reserved for smooth surfaces, allowing the painting to hang on these materials very individuals. Without this precaution prior, the painting might very well not hold.
Zoom on: epoxy resin

today, Resinence revolutionized the paint with its range of paint resin. This allows paint to repaint all the media (credenza, everything relating ... ).  We first apply a coat of paint (many colors to the choice) and then a resin that hardens and becomes resistant. Very simple to use, it is also without smell.

Trap #7: confuse oil paint and paint to the water"

The oil paint, it is much more complque but it is much more beautiful than the paint to the water" ... The old adage has lived! Small return on the differences between oil painting and paint to the water.
Oil Painting or glycero. The painting "oil" is called in the language pro " glycero ".  A database of solvents which facilitate the application, it is particularly appreciated by painters for his "tense", its resistance and its sustainability. It is also the most leachable paints. It is however subject to a new regulation because it is polluting. Its odour is strong and tenacious and evaporating solvents can be harmful. In addition, it is likely to turn yellow with age, and its drying time is long enough between two layers.

Paint with water or acrylic. Acrylic paint, so-called "paint to the water", is without smell or almost and contains little organic solvents

Trap #8: take the wrong finish between matte, satin and gloss

Matte, satin, gloss ... Not easy to find among these three finishes! And yet, it is better choose the good, otherwise, train station to the magnifiers.

Fred Perrot
Achievement: The walls have ears
- The matte paintings: they hide the small imperfections of the media and are proving very trend, by their texture powder coating and rendering them deep and sober. Yes but ... they are only general washable and non-leachable element whereas, therefore unsuited to parts bandwidths, the rooms of children or to the wet parts such as the kitchen and bathroom.
- Sheen paints or lacquers: they have the power to enlarge the spaces by returning the light and are particularly easy to clean. But attention: they do not forgive any imperfection of the bracket and will require three or four layers at least for a perfect rendition. Reserved for perfectionists!
- The eggshell. The most universal of paint remains therefore the satin finish, which is suitable for all spaces and all media.

Question style, remains to choose between smooth paint and paint effects. This last, that the thinking was outmoded, knows today a second breath. The manufacturers are working on styles in the air of the time (slips, campaign, tadelakt ... ) who dress the wall otherwise without too much complicate the task. Swept along by the surge in the wallpaper, paint to effect will also have a practical side. The paint to function allows you to have a pan of magnetic wall or table black, to attach magnets or write small words ...

Trap #9: putting too much paint, or not enough

Not easy to meter the correct amount of paint when we repainted walls, furniture, doors ... Now, if it takes too much paint on its roller and that we do the wrung out not enough, we are in danger of drips or projections unsightly. And if, on the contrary, it does not load enough his sleeve, the layer of paint will be insufficient, the traces of passage of the roller will be visible and the paint will wipe away too quickly.

The golden rules for correctly judging the paint and work in the rules of the art:
- Well mix the paint before use, deposits thicker forming always at the bottom of the pot and risk of making of lumps. To do this, use a piece of wood, a clean wand or a "Mixer", a tool that fits on the mandarin electric drills.
- Do not soak the roll that to half in the paint, and then remove the surplus to the aid of the grid.
- Well apply scotch tape adhesive before applying the paint to avoid overflow. For those who abhor this preparative work, here is a small tip home non-verifiee ... Cut in two an onion and rub it against the surface to do not paint. It seems that the onion has the virtues stemborers toward the paint!
- Ensure that the paint will not accumulate in the two ends of the roll.
- In case of drool: if the paint is not dry yet, it is sufficient to retake a coup of roll to spread the paint. If they is dry, it will sand and apply a new coat of paint.

Trap #10: paint in poor weather conditions

Too hot, too cold, too humid ... And yes, strange as it may seem, the weather may affect performance of paintings. Caution If you decide to paint your interior then in full winter while the heating of your future apartment is not yet in service! In cold weather and high humidity, the paint will be difficult to apply. It will be sticky and the drying time will be longer. With air currents by a windy weather, the opportunity will be given to the dust to attach to the wet paint.

And if you take your brushes in full heatwave? Not terrible not more, because above 30 degrees, the drying time becomes too fast, this can have a negative impact on the sustainability of the film.

Last point not to overlook: the breakdown, in particular if you use of the paint glycero. In effect, the fumes released by the paints based on solvent
